"Coach Steve Spurrier - Says they can't get excited about scoring 71 pts"  (Real Audio)

That about says it all about the Homecoming Performance at the Swamp on Saturday afternoon. Rex Grossman and Brock Berlin each threw three touchdown passes as the third ranked Florida Gators roared past Vanderbilt 71-13. It was the most points scored by the Gators in an SEC game since scoring 73 against Kentucky on Sept. 10, 1994.

Grossman didn't play in the second half. He finished 17 of 29 for 306 yards. He has now thrown for over 300 yards in eight consecutive games.  Brock Berlin threw touchdown passes in the second half. The three scores a career-high for Berlin. "It felt good to get in there and just play around and have some fun with the guys", said Berlin. "Receivers did a great job, caught everything, and the o-line gave me some time. It was great to throw it around a little bit."

Head Ball Coach: "This is just a win. We can't get full of scoring a bunch of points and beating them bad," said Spurrier in his post game radio interview. "You don't get anything extra for this. I sort of wished, maybe, we had beaten them 38-10. It sort of got out of hand."

HEISMAN WATCH
Rex Grossman still continues to be a strong contender in the race for the Heisman.

"No quarterback has passed for more yards, or had as many 300-yard performances as Grossman, who's certainly providing both the "Fun & Gun" in Spurrier's offense." - ESPN

Grossman is something like 75 yards behind surpassing Spurrier in passing yardage records, I believe.  Look for that in the first quarter of the SC game.

Last Game Stats - 17-of-29 for 306 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INTs in a 71-13 rout of Vanderbilt.
Season Stats -177-of-268 for 2,932 yards with 27 TDs and 10 interceptions, plus a rushing TD.

SEC WATCH
In other SEC news, the Arkansas vs Ole Miss game went into SEVEN OT periods.  Over 80 points were scored in the battle, the longest game in college history.  Finally,
Mississippi tight end Doug Ziegler  was stopped 2 yards short of the end zone on a two-point conversion try in the seventh overtime Saturday night to give the Razorbacks a 58-56 victory. ESPN has designated this an "Instant Classic" and will show it this weekend on the ESPN Classic Channel - Fri 6pm PST, Sat 9pm PST.

POLLS
ESPN - Florida is 3rd following only Miami and Nebraska.
AP - Florida is 4th behind  the same plus Oklahoma.
BCS - not updated yet as of this email.

Miami heads into the toughest part of their schedule - yeah, right - with BC, Syracuse, Washington, and VTech.  GO HUSKIES!
Nebraska, the only other last standing undefeated, only has 2 regular season games left, Kansas State and Colorado.

NEWS
The So Cal Gator Club (r) at Tony P's this weekend (thanks for getting up early) were a bit surprised by the sea of Blue and Green that arrived at the bar during the last quarter of our game.  The Michigan vs Michigan State game was directly after ours.  Teaser's, Tony P's sister-bar, on the Santa Monica promenade sadly closed it's doors last week, and as they hosted the Michigan gang, Tony P's has welcomed them in.

Doesn't look like we have any schedule conflicts with the Big Blue, though.

For those of you who received the "who are you on the list" email last week and have not replied, we're assuming that you have either moved out of the area and/or are not interested.  Please reply ASAP or we will go ahead and remove you from future mailings.

Gators vs South Carolina this weekend at 4:45pm PST.  See you there!!!
