Gators vs Tigers
by Kerri Balabas (Oct. 15, 2001)

UGH

That's about all I can say about Saturday's performance. I watched the whole game thinking "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!" as I am sure many of you did. 23-20, Auburn - the wrong set of orange and blue. The Gators, said Spurrier, just thought they could show up. Those Tigers/War Eagles just shut us down.

Quotes of the day
- "Their kicker Duval is a good kicker," said Spurrier. "He nailed everyone of 'em. You've got to give that kid credit. He's good and they know how to snap and place it perfectly."

- Gaffney said that the Gators didn't match Auburn's intensity. "We came out a little flat, today," said Gaffney. "We could never get into a rhythm. Our hats off to Auburn. They played a great game."

- Defensive end Alex Brown took the loss in stride. "We've got to learn from it," said Brown. "We're not out of it (the SEC East title picture). We just need to learn from it and get better."

POLLS
We've dropped to #7 in both polls. Look at how many teams are still undefeated! It's going to be interesting come BCS poll time. Click here: USAToday.com

1. Miami (Fla.) (48) 5-0 1,481 1
2. Oklahoma (11) 6-0 1,440 3
3. Nebraska (1) 7-0 1,382 4
4. Virginia Tech 6-0 1,279 5
5. Oregon 6-0 1,244 6
6. UCLA 5-0 1,239 7
7. Florida 5-1 1,067 2

Hurricane Dorsey
The Hurricanes (5-0), who posted a 49-27 victory over then-No. 13 Florida State on Saturday, really rolled over the Noles who haven't lost at home since 1991 - also Miami, with Gino Torretto. Unfortunately for us it would have been better had Miami lost...but this still looks like a factor of FSU being THAT bad instead of Miami being THAT good. (Like we have room to talk....)
